DELL & CHINA TV 2006
PROJECT - CHINA TV, MICHAEL DELL & SG3D

China Central Television (CCTV) is a Chinese state owned broadcaster controlled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). CCTV has a network of 50 channels broadcasting different programmes and is accessible to more than one billion viewers in six different languages. CCTV's programmes are a mixture of news, documentary, social education, comedy, entertainment, and drama, the majority of which consists of Chinese soap operas and entertainment, including 2 & 3D animation.
In 2006, CCTV were colouring frames for Disney in 2D and were in the process of expanding their animation capabilities from 2D into 3D. They experienced a number of significant technical issues within their Beijing Headquartered 2 & 3D Studio specifically related to failures in their 3D Render Farming activities. When CCTV were developing Render Farms, the US Government at this time had banned all sales to China of high end computer processing towers and, therefore, the only viable alternative for CCTV was in the networking of professional PC's in Render Farms.
With a lack of technical 3d understanding inside the Animation Studio of CCTV, they reached out to Michael Dell personally in the USA, who had recently experienced SG3D Team's capabilities in 3D Render Farming, having created sophisticated last minute animation on the various Precision equipment DELL had on display for the Asia-Pacific launch of DELL's Precision Range in Coolum Qld Australia. SG3D's animation team networked all equipment and created renders overnight for the launch.
SG3D's sister company Global Vision Technologies (GVT) were a Systems Integrator for DELL in Canberra Australia. Michael Dell then reached out to SG3D and asked if the 3D team could fly to Beijing and assist CCTV with the issues they were experiencing. As a personal favour to Michael, Greg Zwajgenberg took a professional SG3D 3D animation crew and flew to Beijing to resolve the the transitional issues that CCTV were experiencing.
The project was financially underwritten by Greg and Teija Zwajgenberg and operationally delivered through our SG3D Animation & Film Company.
